Spencer's show career started slowly. This could have been due to the fact that his handlers were pretty useless! Nevertheless, during his campaign in puppy and junior he was placed at 24 Championship Shows. At the age of two he won his first post-graduate class at LKA. In the following two years he won out of post-graduate and out of mid-limit and won several Championship limit classes before he was semi-retired following injury. The highlights of Spencer's show career were two Reserve Challenge Certificates under Suzanne Moorhouse and Lesley Tomlinson, and a class win at Crufts 2000.

At seven years of age Spencer returned to the show ring. He was shown in Veteran and Vintage classes for the next five years with great success. He was twice the top veteran Bearded Collie in the UK . His movement was always effortless and a true pleasure to watch

Spencer's Last Critique

Special Vintage Dog MBCC Aug. 2008

12½ year slate who was unlucky never to achieve his title. Perfectly balanced front and rear, superb head and eye that tones with his coat, lovely overall length, strong well muscled rear, moved with a free and easy stride. Well handled and presented. - BVIS Judge Sue Carter.

And unusually also a critique from the bitch judge:

From the Vintage class 13 later this year, he showed that Beardies have that love of life; he floated round the ring saying 'look at me', a real charmer. A credit to you - Judge Sheila Burditt
